CallAnalyst supports E9-1-1 via Private Switch / Automatic Location Identification (PS/ALI) module. This module in CallAnalyst software provides an interface to maintain the mapping between the extensions and the physical locations of the phone. IT Managers can use this module to manage this mapping and provide the same to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP). PSAP’s, when they receive a 9-1-1 call, need to know the exact location of each phone in order to dispatch Emergency Services.

WHAT IS PS/ALI?
There are several businesses having large buildings and multiple locations connected to a central PBX. With the popularity and penetration of IP based PBX’s, more and more businesses are having remote locations and employees connected to the central PBX at the main location. When a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) receives a 911 call from these businesses, typically they receive only the information pertaining to the main location where the PBX is located and not the actual location of the extension that dialed 911.
PSAP’s all over North America store the location information of each extension in NENA (National Emergency Number Association) format. Businesses having large buildings or remote locations are required to provide the call-back number (ANI) and the location information (ALI) in NENA format to the PSAP’s so that they can dispatch emergency services to the actual location of the caller.
